About Me
My name is Christopher Murphy. I’m a qualified Maths and Biology teacher with a focus on clarity, structure, and results. I’ve spent the past few years at Alexandra College Dublin, beginning during my teacher training and continuing as a full-time member of staff.
.
I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Maths, Biology and Science Education from UCD, where I also completed a structured elective in Irish. I’ve taught students across all levels and abilities, and I’ve seen the difference the right approach can make, not just in grades, but in confidence and mindset.
.
My love for teaching started long before I stood in front of a classroom. It began in first year of secondary school, when my Irish teacher encouraged me to go to the Gaeltacht. He was the kind of teacher who made learning feel exciting, and I trusted him. I went, and I loved it. I went back every summer, and by Transition Year I was invited to return as a Cinnire (youth leader). I went on to lead for several summers, helping students fall in love with learning, not by forcing it, but by making it enjoyable, real, and alive.
.
That’s still what I aim to do in every class. MurphyGrinds is about more than just content delivery. It’s about giving students the energy, structure and motivation they need to thrive, and making sure they feel supported every step of the way.
.
My lessons are focused, carefully structured, and built on years of classroom experience. But more than that, they’re driven by the same spark that got me into teaching in the first place, to inspire students to learn, and to believe in their ability to succeed.
.
If you’re looking for a place where lessons are clear, consistent, and motivating, you’ll feel right at home here.

Q: How do the lessons work?
Each MurphyGrinds class runs in short term blocks (6–10 weeks). You’ll get one live Zoom lesson each week, plus access to clear notes, worked examples, and extra exam material. All links and resources are sent directly to your email once you book.
Q: What subjects and levels do you offer?
Right now you can book:
- 3rd Year HL Maths
- 5th Year HL Maths
- 5th Year Biology
- 6th Year HL Maths
- 6th Year OL Maths
- 6th Year Biology
Q: How many students are in each class?
Each lesson runs in a small group format. This keeps the price fair while still giving students time to ask questions and get personal support.
Q: Can I join more than one class?
Yes, lots of students take both Maths and Biology, or book in for more than one sibling. If you’d like to combine subjects or students, just email me and I’ll offer a reduced multi-class rate.
Q: What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Lessons are taught live so students can get real-time help, but if a student misses one, the class will be recorded and saved in the Google Drive folder along with the notes. I always encourage students to come live if possible. The recording is a safety net, not a replacement.
Q: Can my child get extra help outside of lessons?
Yes — I stay on Zoom for 5–15 minutes after each lesson for extra questions or tricky problems. Students can also email me short follow-up questions during the term if they need extra help.
Q: How do I pay?
Booking and payment are done directly through this website using secure checkout. When you book, you’ll get an email with your Zoom link, notes access, and all the details you need.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
Places are limited, so bookings are non-refundable once the term starts. If you’re unsure which class to book, feel free to email me first and I’ll help you pick the best option.
Q: How are the notes shared?
All notes and worked examples are uploaded to a private Google Drive folder for each group. Students get access once they book their place.
